We purchased a book while in Crete by the title of "The Abduction of General Kreipe" written by George Harokopos (first edition February 2003). Joel read this one and reports the editing was 'terrible' although the storyline was interesting. We will have to look for the other book recommended above.

Thanks, Mike. Ill Met by Moonlight will be added to my list, pronto. I've read about that German General's story, and it is amazing.
And Nenyaki: You're welcome. I'm grateful to have the picture.

The Cretan Runner is a great read - they don't make guys like that any more.

Also worth reading is the book Ill Met by Moonlight by W. Stanley Moss, which tells the true story of the kidnapping of the German General Kreipe, the head of the German forces on Crete, in which Moss and Patrick Leigh Fermor were involved. It's an amazing tale in which they stopped the General's car, kidnapped him, hid him in the Cretan mountains, and smuggled him off the island to Egypt. Many years ago I adapted the book into a radio drama for the BBC World Service.
