Okay, Vice President Biden says HE’s not taking planes or subways!
Travel writer Peter Greenberg says Biden was sending the wrong message, and he, personally, is going to Mexico on those nice empty planes and stay in those nice empty hotels. A couple of days ago I wrote a post about a book for travelers to Mexico and I called the post ” Can’t Go? Read About Mexico.” Was I wrong? I got curious. Where do the readers of A Traveler’s Library come down on this debate?

As a travel agent, I would never encourage people to do what I’m not willing to do. Hubby and I are on three airplanes next weekend to get from the Midwest to Barcelona, Spain. I have no qualms whatsoever about this trip. You’re always at risk of catching something in confined spaces … I had the chicken pox at age 30 from being exposed to the virus somewhere in the public. I’ve had colds, strep throat, mumps, measles and even the flu in my lifetime, all picked up from just living life.
Travel is part of that life. It’s the flu. If I get it, I’ll see the ship doctor, get a shot of Tamiflu and feel like crap for a few days.

I’m part of the May Blogathon and am dropping by to say hello. It seems to me the flu is fizzling – it’s not increasing like crazy and so I am feeling like I would be comfortable flying.
If I can fit travel in, I’m doing it. Flu or no flu. I think the hype is about ending on this “epidemic” though, at least it looks like it is.

It’s a flu like any other. I don’t think it should scare people away from traveling. You just need to take some precautions, as you would any time you go anywhere. Think I’ll make a reservation on one of those nice, empty planes…
