At A Traveler’s Library, we want to assist travelers who are looking for books or movies to inspire or inform travel.
I am always on the lookout for great new books, and I love sharing them with my readers. I would be thrilled to receive books from you to review, if they are a good fit for A Traveler’s Library. But please familiarize yourself with the type of books covered here. Any genre may fit–fiction or nonfiction, but only if it brings a strong sense of place and/or culture of a place.
And please contact me first. I plan a month to two months in advance, so may not be able to publicize your book within the first weeks of publication. I’ll tell you that up front.
Please note, I review guidebooks at another site, but rarely at A Traveler’s Library.
Novels, memoirs, biographies, children’s books, even cookbooks have been discussed at A Traveler’s Library. All the books chosen entice a person to travel to a specific place. I can accept books that are readable on the Sony Reader or Kindle, or in PDF and I also review audio books.
A Traveler’s Library covers the world, so I particularly welcome books about areas that are not frequently written about, and translations of books by writers outside the English-speaking world. I also like to balance books that appeal to males as well as females.
I always reserve the right not to write about a book, CD, or DVD if I do not think it will benefit the readers. I always fully disclose when publishers have provided review copies. My opinions will be my own and will be honest–meaning not always favorable.
In addition to reviews, I will be promoting the book’s title on social media, and from time to time may hold giveaways of the books, CDs or DVDs I have reviewed. As I am a Blog Sherpa,Lonely Planet reprints most of the articles at A Traveler’s Library on their main website.
I sometimes conduct author interviews, and less frequently publish guest articles by authors.
