July 4th: Lesser Known Patriotic Destinations for Travelers

Humphrey´s Summit - highest point in Arizona - Tribute to Memorial Day
I particularly liked this because it is at the Summit of Humphrey’s Peak in northern Arizona, a trail Ken and I have hiked.

I know, the day is half gone, but I’m so mesmerized by the rain that is moving into Arizona…..excuses, excuses, excuses.
Anyhow, if you’re in the mood for some thoughts about patriotic reading and travel…take a look at these past articles (and save them for next year’s July trip planning):

Now read on for a movie that will have you planning a trip to northern Michigan, as Jane Boursaw brings us Wednesday Matinee.

The photo featured here is from Flickr, used with a Creative Commons license and you really should click on the photo to see his comments on the photo  –which he actually took on a different patriotic holiday than July 4– and  learn more about the photographer (click on his name on the flicker page that comes up). Thanks Al!

  1. Great suggestions for seeing the fireworks. i agree that Boston, NY, and DC are all worth the trip for fireworks.

Sometimes it’s even worth giving up the party to see them from the water. Nothing beats seeing fireworks from overhead sitting in your boat.
