Happy Thanksgiving    I realize this is an American thing..and you may not be celebrating as we are–but Happy Day, anyhow. What are you thankful for this year? Of course, I am always grateful for TRAVEL. Although much of my travel has been close to home, I’ve explored some scenic and interesting corners of America. After being sidelined by some back problems in the early months of the year, things warmed up. Here’s a quiet Thanks for the opportunities I have had. Even if you’re not into surfing or surfing movies, you’ll probably find something to love about Chasing Mavericks, a movie based on the true story of surfing icon Jay Moriarity, played by Jonny Weston in the movie. If you’re planning a beach vacation, it might even tempt you to take a surfing lesson. The movie begins with 8-year-old Jay getting accidentally sucked into the roaring surf while trying to keep his friend’s dog from chasing a ball into the water. Fortunately, there’s an experienced surfer nearby named Frosty Hesson (Gerard Butler) who rescues Jay and takes the kids home. Turns out he and Jay live right next door to each other. The movie industry loves to celebrate Halloween, so I’m currently awash in spooky films, DVDs and blu-ray releases.

Last year over at Reel Life With Jane, I wrote about some of the scariest movies I’d seen and polled a few friends for their choices.
