Each year, the Florida Reading Association (FRA) chooses eight books for the FRA Children’s Book Award. Children all over the state of Florida read the books or have the books read to them. Once they have heard all the books, the children get to vote on their favorite. Votes are submitted to the Florida Reading Association and a winner is announced. You’ll be hearing more at A Traveler’s Library in the coming year about the Centennial of my home state, Arizona, the Grand Canyon State. And New Mexico turns 100 in 2012, also, so I’ll talk about them a bit.  Did you know that at one point the Congress wanted to make the two of them into one state called Arizona, with the capitol in Santa Fe?  Neither territory was having any of that, so it took several more years before they became the baby states of the continental U.S. Continue reading Kids in Arizona
